Susan Maez joined Schafer Thomas Maez PC as an associate in 2002, and was named a Shareholder and a Director in 2006. She retired from the practice of law in 2024.
Susan practiced in the areas of estate planning, wealth preservation planning, estate tax and gift tax planning, trust administration and probate administration. She worked closely with clients and their trusted advisors to develop and implement an estate plan tailored to each client’s individual situation. Susan also assisted personal representatives, trustees and beneficiaries with various estate and trust administration matters.
Prior to her association with Schafer Thomas Maez PC, Susan advised closely-held business owners and other high net worth individuals on various estate planning, wealth preservation, and estate tax reduction techniques. She also served as a Trust Officer and Vice President with a Denver bank.
Susan began in private practice in Colorado since 1991. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in California. Susan resides in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband. She has been actively involved with a variety of local community organizations over the years, and enjoys golfing, traveling, fly-fishing, hiking and snowshoeing.
